Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Namaz Android app does with your information. Namaz is published by Ms IT Xpress (“we”, “us”, “our”). “You” means anyone who installs or uses the app.

It covers the app only — the prayer timetable, the qibla compass, the prayer tracker, the lessons, the duas and surahs, the tasbih counter and the quizzes.

1. What we do not collect

• No name, e-mail address, phone number or any other contact detail — the app never asks you to register or log in.
• No coordinates. Your latitude and longitude are used on the device to compute the timetable and the qibla bearing, and are saved on the device. They are never sent to us and never attached to an analytics event.
• No contacts, no call logs, no SMS, no camera, no microphone, no photos or files.
• No prayer log. Which prayers you marked, and how, never reaches us as content — see section 5 for the anonymous counter that does.
• No reading history — which duas, surahs or lessons you opened is not sent to us as a list.

2. What is stored on your device

The app keeps everything in its own private storage on the phone. None of it leaves the device unless you share it yourself, or you back your phone up:

• Your location for prayer times. Either the coordinates read from the device once, or the city you picked from the built-in list, together with its name and which of the two it came from.
• Your prayer log. For each day, how each of the five prayers was marked — in jamaah, alone, qaza, or not marked. Stored one small record per day.
• Your progress. Which lessons you have completed, your best score in each quiz topic, and your tasbih count, target and rounds.
• Your favourites. The duas you have starred.
• Settings. App language, light / dark / system theme, calculation method, Asr method, 12- or 24-hour clock, reminder and alarm settings, Arabic text size, and whether transliteration is shown.

All of it is written with Android’s standard app-preferences storage. Uninstalling the app removes it. Clearing the app’s data in Android Settings removes it too, and the app starts fresh.

3. Location

Prayer times and the qibla direction depend on where you are, so the app needs a place to compute them from. It offers you two ways to give it one, and you are never forced into either.

• Use my location. The app asks for Android’s location permission at the moment you tap it — never at launch. If you allow it, the app takes a single reading at medium accuracy (which is more than enough: prayer times move by well under a minute across a city), saves the coordinates on the device, and does not track you afterwards. There is no background location, no location history and no geofencing. The permission is only ever used when you ask for a fresh reading.
• Choose a city. Pick from the list built into the app. No permission and no sensors are involved, and the app works fully this way.

If you refuse or revoke the location permission, the app tells you why it could not read your position and offers the city list instead — a denied permission is never a dead end. You can withdraw the permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Namaz → Permissions; the app then keeps using the last place you set until you change it.

The qibla compass reads the device’s magnetometer and accelerometer to work out which way the phone is pointing. Those readings are used to turn the dial on screen as it happens and are never stored or transmitted.

4. Reminders, notifications and alarms

Prayer reminders are entirely local. The app computes the times on your device and hands them to Android’s own alarm and notification service. No push service is involved, nothing is scheduled on a server, and no notification passes through us.

• Notification permission is requested only when you switch reminders on. If you refuse it, the rest of the app is unaffected.
• Exact alarms are used because an adhan reminder is useless a quarter of an hour late.
• Restart after reboot is used to put the day’s reminders back after the phone is switched off and on, because Android clears scheduled alarms on reboot.
• Confirming a prayer from a notification writes to your prayer log on the device, in the background, without opening the app.

5. Google services used by the app

Namaz uses a small number of Google services. They are the only third parties that receive anything, and none of them receive your coordinates, your city, or the contents of your prayer log.

The approximate country above is derived by Google from the network address the request arrives on. The app never sends your coordinates or your chosen city to Firebase, so the location an analytics report shows is a country-level estimate made by Google, not the place your prayer times are computed from.

These services are provided by Google LLC and are subject to the Google Privacy Policy and, for the Firebase parts, the Firebase Privacy and Security notes. Data processed by them may be stored on Google servers outside Bangladesh.

Everything else in the app runs offline. The timetable, the qibla bearing, the Hijri and Bengali dates, the duas, the surahs, the lessons and the quizzes are all computed or read from data bundled inside the app, so it works with no connection at all. The fonts are bundled too — nothing is fetched from a font service.

6. Advertising

The app shows no advertising. There are no ad networks in it, no sponsored content, and nothing you see inside the app has been paid for.

It does not use the Android advertising ID either. The Google Analytics for Firebase library declares that permission in its own manifest, and the app explicitly removes it (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID), so the installed app carries no advertising identifier at all and cannot be used to build an advertising profile of you.

If we ever add advertising, we will update this page and the Play Store Data safety declaration before that version is published, and any consent required in your region will be asked for inside the app.

7. Permissions and why the app asks

• Location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) — to read your coordinates once for the prayer timetable and the qibla bearing. Requested only when you tap “Use my location”. Optional; the city list replaces it entirely.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — to show prayer reminders. Requested only when you switch reminders on. Optional.
• Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM, USE_EXACT_ALARM) — so a reminder arrives at the start of the prayer rather than whenever Android gets round to it.
• Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — to restore the day’s reminders after a reboot.
• Vibrate (VIBRATE) — for the reminder and the tasbih counter.
• Internet (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — used only by Firebase and the in-app update check. No app feature needs a connection.

Neither GPS nor a compass is required to install the app. On a phone without a compass the qibla bearing is still shown and is still correct — you can line it up with any other compass.

8. When you share something out of the app

Sharing a dua hands the text to the Android share sheet, and “Rate this app”, “Share the app” and “Contact us” open the Play Store, the share sheet or your e-mail app. What happens after that is governed by the app you pick and by its privacy policy, not by ours. If you e-mail us, we receive whatever you write and your e-mail address, and we use them only to answer you.

9. Children

The app is suitable for all ages and contains nothing that requires an age check. It has no account, no chat, no user-generated content and no advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all.

10. How long data is kept

• On your device: until you delete it in the app, clear the app’s data, or uninstall. The prayer log can be wiped from Tracker → Clear history without touching your other settings.
• Firebase Analytics: event data is retained for the period set in the Firebase console, after which Google deletes it automatically.
• Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.

11. Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent or trade any data, and we have none to sell. Nothing is shared with anyone beyond the Google services listed in section 5. We would disclose information only if the law required it, and we hold nothing about you that such a request could reach.

12. Security

Your data sits in the app’s private storage, which Android keeps out of reach of other apps. Traffic to Firebase is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but because the app holds no account and sends us no personal data, there is no store of your information to be breached on our side.

13. Your rights

• Withdraw location access: Android Settings → Apps → Namaz → Permissions. The app keeps working; pick a city instead.
• Stop reminders: switch them off in the app’s Settings, or revoke the notification permission.
• Delete your data: clear the prayer log in the app, or clear the app’s data or uninstall it to remove everything.
• Opt out of analytics: analytics and crash reporting can be stopped for the app by clearing its data and leaving it uninstalled; if you would prefer an in-app switch, write to us and we will add one.
• Ask us: e-mail the address below. We answer within 30 days. Please say roughly when and on what device you used the app, as we have no way to look you up.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. If the change is significant, it will be announced in the Play Store release notes for the version that introduces it. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

গোপনীয়তা নীতি (বাংলা)

নামাজ অ্যাপটি আপনার তথ্য নিয়ে কী করে, এই পাতায় সেটাই লেখা আছে। অ্যাপটি প্রকাশ করেছে Ms IT Xpress। নিচে “আমরা” বলতে Ms IT Xpress, আর “আপনি” বলতে অ্যাপ ব্যবহারকারী বোঝানো হয়েছে। ইংরেজি ও বাংলা লেখার মধ্যে কোনো অমিল দেখা দিলে উপরের ইংরেজি অংশটিই চূড়ান্ত ধরা হবে।

১. যা আমরা সংগ্রহ করি না

• নাম, ই-মেইল, ফোন নম্বর বা অন্য কোনো যোগাযোগের তথ্য নয় — অ্যাপ কখনো রেজিস্ট্রেশন বা লগইন চায় না।
• আপনার স্থানাঙ্ক নয়। অক্ষাংশ-দ্রাঘিমাংশ শুধু আপনার ফোনেই ব্যবহার হয় সময়সূচি আর কিবলার কোণ বের করতে, এবং ফোনেই জমা থাকে। এটি আমাদের কাছে পাঠানো হয় না, কোনো অ্যানালিটিক্স ইভেন্টের সাথেও যুক্ত হয় না।
• কন্টাক্ট, কল লগ, এসএমএস, ক্যামেরা, মাইক্রোফোন, ছবি বা ফাইল — কিছুই নয়।
• আপনার নামাজের হিসাব নয়। কোন ওয়াক্ত কীভাবে চিহ্নিত করেছেন, সেটি আমাদের কাছে আসে না — শুধু নাম-পরিচয়হীন একটি গণনা যায়, দেখুন ৫ নম্বর অংশ।
• কোন দোয়া, সূরা বা পাঠ খুলেছেন তার তালিকা নয়।

২. আপনার ফোনে যা জমা থাকে

অ্যাপ সবকিছু ফোনের ভেতরে নিজের ব্যক্তিগত জায়গায় রাখে। আপনি নিজে শেয়ার না করলে বা ফোনের ব্যাকআপ না নিলে এসব ফোন ছেড়ে কোথাও যায় না:

• নামাজের সময়ের জন্য অবস্থান। হয় ফোন থেকে একবার নেওয়া স্থানাঙ্ক, নয়তো তালিকা থেকে বেছে নেওয়া শহর — নামসহ, আর কোনটি থেকে এসেছে সেই তথ্যসহ।
• নামাজের হিসাব। প্রতিদিনের পাঁচ ওয়াক্ত কীভাবে চিহ্নিত — জামাতে, একা, কাজা, নাকি চিহ্নিত হয়নি।
• অগ্রগতি। কোন পাঠগুলো শেষ করেছেন, প্রতিটি কুইজে সেরা স্কোর, আর তাসবিহর গণনা, লক্ষ্য ও রাউন্ড।
• পছন্দের দোয়া। যেগুলোতে আপনি হৃদয় চিহ্ন দিয়েছেন।
• সেটিংস। ভাষা, থিম, হিসাবের পদ্ধতি, আসরের পদ্ধতি, ১২/২৪ ঘণ্টার সময়, রিমাইন্ডার ও অ্যালার্মের সেটিং, আরবি লেখার আকার, আর উচ্চারণ দেখানো হবে কি না।

অ্যাপ আনইনস্টল করলে বা অ্যান্ড্রয়েড সেটিংস থেকে অ্যাপের ডেটা মুছলে সবই মুছে যায়।

৩. অবস্থান

নামাজের সময় আর কিবলার দিক আপনি কোথায় আছেন তার উপর নির্ভর করে। তাই অ্যাপের একটি অবস্থান দরকার, আর সেটি দেওয়ার দুটি পথ আছে — কোনোটিতেই আপনাকে বাধ্য করা হয় না।

• আমার অবস্থান ব্যবহার করুন। আপনি এই বোতামে চাপ দিলে তবেই অ্যাপ অনুমতি চায় — অ্যাপ চালু হওয়ার সময় নয়। অনুমতি দিলে একবারই মাঝারি নির্ভুলতায় অবস্থান নেওয়া হয় (এতেই যথেষ্ট: এক শহরের এ প্রান্ত থেকে ও প্রান্তে নামাজের সময় এক মিনিটও বদলায় না), স্থানাঙ্ক ফোনে জমা থাকে, এরপর আর কোনো ট্র্যাকিং হয় না। ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ডে অবস্থান নেওয়া হয় না, অবস্থানের ইতিহাসও রাখা হয় না।
• শহর বেছে নিন। অ্যাপের ভেতরের তালিকা থেকে বেছে নিন। কোনো অনুমতি বা সেন্সর লাগে না, আর এভাবেও অ্যাপ পুরোপুরি চলে।

অনুমতি না দিলে বা তুলে নিলে অ্যাপ কারণটি জানিয়ে শহরের তালিকা দেখায় — অনুমতি না দেওয়ায় কোনো কিছুই আটকে যায় না। যেকোনো সময় সেটিংস → অ্যাপস → নামাজ → অনুমতি থেকে অনুমতি তুলে নিতে পারেন।

কিবলা কম্পাস ফোনের ম্যাগনেটোমিটার ও অ্যাক্সিলারোমিটার পড়ে বোঝে ফোনটি কোন দিকে তাক করা। এই পাঠগুলো শুধু পর্দায় কাঁটা ঘোরানোর জন্যই ব্যবহার হয় — জমা রাখা হয় না, পাঠানোও হয় না।

৪. রিমাইন্ডার, নোটিফিকেশন ও অ্যালার্ম

রিমাইন্ডার পুরোপুরি ফোনের ভেতরের ব্যাপার। সময় হিসাব হয় আপনার ফোনে, আর সেটি অ্যান্ড্রয়েডের নিজস্ব অ্যালার্ম ও নোটিফিকেশন সেবার হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হয়। কোনো পুশ সার্ভিস নেই, কোনো সার্ভারে কিছু নির্ধারিত হয় না, আর কোনো নোটিফিকেশন আমাদের মধ্য দিয়ে যায় না।

• নোটিফিকেশনের অনুমতি চাওয়া হয় কেবল আপনি রিমাইন্ডার চালু করলে।
• সঠিক সময়ে বাজার জন্য exact alarm ব্যবহার হয় — পনেরো মিনিট দেরিতে আসা আজানের স্মরণ করানোর কোনো মানে নেই।
• ফোন রিস্টার্ট হলে সেদিনের রিমাইন্ডার আবার বসানো হয়, কারণ রিবুটে অ্যান্ড্রয়েড আগের অ্যালার্ম মুছে দেয়।
• নোটিফিকেশন থেকে নামাজ নিশ্চিত করলে সেটি ফোনের ভেতরেই আপনার হিসাবে লেখা হয়, অ্যাপ না খুলেই।

৫. অ্যাপে ব্যবহৃত গুগল সেবা

নামাজ অ্যাপ কয়েকটি গুগল সেবা ব্যবহার করে। এগুলোই একমাত্র তৃতীয় পক্ষ যারা কিছু পায়, এবং এদের কেউই আপনার স্থানাঙ্ক, আপনার শহর বা আপনার নামাজের হিসাব পায় না।

• Firebase Analytics — নাম-পরিচয়হীন ব্যবহারের ঘটনা: কোন ওয়াক্ত চিহ্নিত হলো, কোন পাঠ শেষ হলো, কোন কুইজে কত স্কোর, কোন দোয়া শেয়ার হলো, রিমাইন্ডার চালু না বন্ধ হলো, আর অবস্থান বদলালে সেটি ফোন থেকে না শহরের তালিকা থেকে এলো (জায়গাটি কখনোই নয়)। সেই সাথে কোন স্ক্রিন খোলা হয়েছে, আপনার ভাষা ও থিম, এবং Firebase-এর নিজস্ব স্বয়ংক্রিয় তথ্য: এলোমেলোভাবে তৈরি একটি অ্যাপ ইনস্ট্যান্স আইডি, ডিভাইস মডেল, অ্যান্ড্রয়েড ভার্সন, অ্যাপ ভার্সন ও আনুমানিক দেশ।
• Firebase Crashlytics — ক্র্যাশ রিপোর্ট: ত্রুটি ও তার স্ট্যাক ট্রেস, ডিভাইস মডেল, অ্যান্ড্রয়েড ভার্সন, অ্যাপ ভার্সন এবং কখন ক্র্যাশ হয়েছে।
• Google Play (in-app update) — নতুন ভার্সন এসেছে কি না, অ্যাপ শুধু সেটুকুই জিজ্ঞেস করে; বাকিটা ফোনের Google Play Services সামলায়।

উপরের “আনুমানিক দেশ” গুগল নিজেই বের করে নেয় অনুরোধটি যে নেটওয়ার্ক ঠিকানা থেকে এসেছে তা দেখে। অ্যাপ কখনো আপনার স্থানাঙ্ক বা বেছে নেওয়া শহর Firebase-এ পাঠায় না।

এই সেবাগুলো Google LLC-এর এবং Google Privacy Policy ও Firebase Privacy and Security অনুসারে পরিচালিত। এই তথ্য বাংলাদেশের বাইরের গুগল সার্ভারে জমা থাকতে পারে।

অ্যাপের বাকি সবকিছু অফলাইনে চলে। সময়সূচি, কিবলার কোণ, হিজরি ও বাংলা তারিখ, দোয়া, সূরা, পাঠ আর কুইজ — সবই ফোনেই হিসাব হয় বা অ্যাপের ভেতরের ডেটা থেকে পড়া হয়। ফন্টও অ্যাপের সাথেই দেওয়া, বাইরে থেকে আনা হয় না।

৬. বিজ্ঞাপন

অ্যাপে কোনো বিজ্ঞাপন নেই। কোনো অ্যাড নেটওয়ার্ক নেই, স্পনসর করা কিছু নেই, আর অ্যাপের ভেতরে যা দেখেন তার কোনোটির জন্য টাকা নেওয়া হয়নি।

অ্যান্ড্রয়েডের অ্যাডভার্টাইজিং আইডিও ব্যবহার করা হয় না। Google Analytics for Firebase লাইব্রেরিটি নিজের ম্যানিফেস্টে ঐ অনুমতিটি ঘোষণা করে, কিন্তু অ্যাপ সেটি স্পষ্টভাবে সরিয়ে দেয় (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) — ফলে ইনস্টল করা অ্যাপে কোনো অ্যাডভার্টাইজিং আইডেন্টিফায়ারই থাকে না, আর এটি দিয়ে আপনার কোনো বিজ্ঞাপন-প্রোফাইল বানানো সম্ভব নয়।

ভবিষ্যতে বিজ্ঞাপন যোগ করলে সেই ভার্সন প্রকাশের আগেই এই পাতা ও প্লে স্টোরের Data safety ঘোষণা হালনাগাদ করা হবে।

৭. অনুমতি ও কেন লাগে

• অবস্থান — সময়সূচি ও কিবলার জন্য একবার স্থানাঙ্ক পড়তে। “আমার অবস্থান” চাপলে তবেই চাওয়া হয়। ঐচ্ছিক; শহরের তালিকা দিয়েই কাজ চলে।
• নোটিফিকেশন — নামাজের রিমাইন্ডার দেখাতে। রিমাইন্ডার চালু করলে তবেই চাওয়া হয়। ঐচ্ছিক।
• Exact alarm — ওয়াক্তের শুরুতেই যেন রিমাইন্ডার আসে।
• রিবুটের পর চালু — ফোন রিস্টার্টের পর সেদিনের রিমাইন্ডার ফিরিয়ে আনতে।
• ভাইব্রেট — রিমাইন্ডার ও তাসবিহ গণনার জন্য।
• ইন্টারনেট — শুধু Firebase আর আপডেট যাচাইয়ের জন্য। অ্যাপের কোনো ফিচারের জন্য ইন্টারনেট লাগে না।

জিপিএস বা কম্পাস ছাড়াও অ্যাপ ইনস্টল ও ব্যবহার করা যায়। কম্পাস না থাকলেও কিবলার কোণ দেখানো হয় এবং সেটি সঠিক — অন্য যেকোনো কম্পাস দিয়ে মিলিয়ে নিতে পারেন।

৮. অ্যাপ থেকে কিছু শেয়ার করলে

দোয়া শেয়ার করলে লেখাটি অ্যান্ড্রয়েডের শেয়ার শিটে যায়। “রেটিং দিন”, “অ্যাপ শেয়ার করুন” ও “যোগাযোগ” প্লে স্টোর, শেয়ার শিট বা আপনার ই-মেইল অ্যাপ খোলে। এরপর যা হয় তা ঐ অ্যাপের নীতি অনুযায়ী চলে, আমাদের নয়। আপনি ই-মেইল করলে আপনার লেখা ও ঠিকানা আমরা পাই এবং শুধু উত্তর দিতেই ব্যবহার করি।

৯. শিশুরা

অ্যাপটি সব বয়সের জন্য উপযোগী। এতে অ্যাকাউন্ট নেই, চ্যাট নেই, ব্যবহারকারীর তৈরি কনটেন্ট নেই, বিজ্ঞাপনও নেই। আমরা কোনো বয়সের কারও ব্যক্তিগত তথ্যই সংগ্রহ করি না।

১০. তথ্য কতদিন থাকে

• আপনার ফোনে: যতক্ষণ না আপনি মুছছেন, অ্যাপের ডেটা ক্লিয়ার করছেন বা আনইনস্টল করছেন। নামাজের হিসাব আলাদাভাবে মুছতে ট্র্যাকার → ইতিহাস মুছুন।
• Firebase Analytics: ফায়ারবেস কনসোলে নির্ধারিত সময় পর গুগল স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে মুছে দেয়।
• Firebase Crashlytics: ক্র্যাশ রিপোর্ট সর্বোচ্চ ৯০ দিন রাখা হয়।

১১. তথ্য বিক্রি বা আদান-প্রদান

আমরা কোনো তথ্য বিক্রি, ভাড়া বা বিনিময় করি না — করার মতো তথ্যই আমাদের কাছে নেই। ৫ নম্বর অংশে উল্লেখ করা গুগল সেবা ছাড়া আর কারও সাথে কিছুই ভাগ করা হয় না।

১২. নিরাপত্তা

আপনার তথ্য অ্যাপের ব্যক্তিগত জায়গায় থাকে, যেখানে অন্য অ্যাপ পৌঁছাতে পারে না। Firebase-এ যাওয়া তথ্য এনক্রিপ্ট করা অবস্থায় যায়। কোনো ব্যবস্থাই শতভাগ নিরাপদ নয়, তবে অ্যাপে অ্যাকাউন্ট নেই আর আমাদের কাছে আপনার ব্যক্তিগত তথ্য জমা নেই — তাই আমাদের দিকে ফাঁস হওয়ার মতো কিছুই নেই।

১৩. আপনার অধিকার

• অবস্থানের অনুমতি তুলে নিন: সেটিংস → অ্যাপস → নামাজ → অনুমতি। অ্যাপ চলতেই থাকবে; শহর বেছে নিন।
• রিমাইন্ডার বন্ধ করুন: অ্যাপের সেটিংস থেকে, বা নোটিফিকেশনের অনুমতি তুলে নিয়ে।
• তথ্য মুছুন: অ্যাপ থেকে হিসাব মুছুন, কিংবা অ্যাপের ডেটা ক্লিয়ার বা আনইনস্টল করুন।
• প্রশ্ন বা অভিযোগ: নিচের ঠিকানায় ই-মেইল করুন। ৩০ দিনের মধ্যে উত্তর দেওয়া হয়।

১৪. নীতি বদলালে

অ্যাপের তথ্য ব্যবহারের ধরন বদলালে এই পাতা আর উপরের তারিখ হালনাগাদ করা হবে। বড় কোনো পরিবর্তন হলে সেটি যে ভার্সনে আসছে, তার প্লে স্টোর রিলিজ নোটেও জানানো হবে।
